aboutme

It's nice to meet you! My name is Chandice (Albrecht) Richards, and I am a PROUD PERRY alumnus. My husband and I have four sons—all of whom we have raised as Pirates. The familiar saying rings true in our home—Once a Pirate, Always a Pirate! From walking the hallways of Perry High School as the first freshman class to be in the new Perry campus to watching my children walk those same halls—I can't help but feel gratitude for the community I have been blessed to call home. I credit much of the beautiful life my husband and I have built to the strong foundation that Perry made in me. With that being said, I am looking forward to giving back to the school district that gave so much to me! I am excited to share that I am running for School Board. I know that the strength of our community is a direct result of our Perry Local Schools and those who lead it.

WHEN OUR SCHOOLS ARE STRONG—PERRY IS STRONG.

I am proud of all the great things that happen on a daily basis at Perry—however, there are things that we need to do to
 PRESERVE PERRY’S TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE.

Did you know?!

People pay an average of $50 more per square foot for homes in top rated school districts.

From mental health to a world-class education, I will work to be a driving force for good in the Perry community. I will keep community members informed, administration accountable, and the proud energy to be a Pirate contagious.

Perry needs to remain a place that we are all PROUD of! I believe our students should learn in a safe, supportive environment that allows them to grow and achieve their greatest potential. I want to ensure that our students DO become lifelong learners and are inspired to live out their dreams.

I AM A BUSINESS OWNER.

Having the ability to objectively see outside the classroom walls is needed by our students & taxpayers. My business background would enable me to be an effective board member by challenging the current budget practices and offering strategy to avoid deficit spending. I am a firm believer that PERRY must have a proactive approach to tackle our deficit spending. As a mother & entrepreneur, I know what it takes to make ends meet. I will support our teachers, promote the benefits of small class sizes, encourage creativity in the classroom to teach our students, and will consider the need for competitive salaries for our staff.

WE SHOULD â€‹NOT ACCEPT DEFICIT SPENDING!

Beginning this school year, our school district is deficit spending, and it is forecasted to continue! We need to be fiscally responsible, and every expenditure should be made with consideration of the great sacrifice taxpayers have done to provide those funds. Spending cuts are necessary, but cuts should not begin by removing programing and learning opportunities for our students. Taxpayers should have a voice on how to approach the financial direction of our school district—after all, school districts directly affect home values. With my ability to be forward-thinking, I know we can strategically make a better plan for our students and community members.

I WILL BE AN ADVOCATE FOR OUR PARENTS & TAXPAYERS.

I am willing to listen in confidence to the concerns of our parents and taxpayers, and research those concerns. As a school board member, I will be approachable and will hold our administrators accountable. Your concerns will not fall on deaf ears! Every student and parent deserve their feelings to be validated and to be treated with fairness and empathy.

AS A HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL, I UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR STUDENTS' SAFETY & WELLNESS.

By day, I am a Dentist at Albrecht Family Dentistry and have also been privileged to work in our State Correctional Facilities as a Dentist. I have also traveled great distances to serve the dental needs of the people of Central America through medical mission trips. Because of these experiences, I have first-hand witnessed why the educational system is the foundation of a STRONG community.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

IT'S YOUR MONEY—YOU HAVE A VOICE & VOTE.

HOW CAN I STRENGTHEN PERRY'S FOUNDATION?

HOW DO I PLAN TO ADVOCATE DIFFERENTLY FOR YOU?

UPDATE ON DEFICIT SPENDING

I will be PROACTIVE—and not reactive.

LEARN MORE

Our school district was forecasted this May to begin deficit spending this fiscal year, which CANNOT go undiscussed with our community. Since highlighting this in my campaign, our newly appointed CFO, Jennifer Capo, discussed this matter in the September school board meeting and I had a lengthy follow up conversation with her. Because of the increase in Fair Funding, which is new to our Governor's budget, our school will not have to deficit spend this year; however, we are not in the clear for next year or thereafter. We need to always make sure our administrators are working with our state legislators to protect our TPP funding, and we must hold our administrators to be good stewards of our taxpayer dollars. I support being fiscally responsible and working collectively on a budget plan to keep our students' learning the top priority!

I will encourage community members to

use their voice & their vote.

Spanish classes were cut from Perry Elementary school this year without the community knowing, while administrative positions were expanded at the same time. Our community should have had a voice on this decision! If our mission is to create world class leaders—we shouldn't cut their world class education. I will advocate to promote spending cuts that do not affect our student's learning.

PERRY needs to remain a place that we are all PROUD of! I believe our students should learn in a safe, supportive environment that allows them to grow and achieve their greatest potential. I want to ensure that our students DO become lifelong learners with world-class standards and are inspired to live out their dreams.

I know you have many choices at the ballot box this November. However, I humbly ask you for your vote.  Please vote to keep
PERRY PROUD AND PERRY STRONG.
